We are so lucky here in Orlando and Central Florida as a whole that we have some great talented people in the population. The local Gay community adds to the diversity and creativity that is on offer. Local arts are definitely enhanced by this diversity, particularly when it comes to music, including that popular strain – the Color Guard.
That’s right color guard fans! I bet you didn’t know that Central Florida has its own LGBT Band and Guard!
The Central Florida “Sounds of Freedom Band” and Color Guard are an exciting group of like minded musicians whose mission is “to provide exceptional music, entertainment and inspirational services for the LGBT and other community based organizations” they often perform at the Parliament House (as well as other local venues) where they always thrill a crowd.
While not only enjoying performing the band and guard also promotes acceptance and equality with its performances. The Central Florida “Sounds of Freedom Band” and Color Guard can be often seen taking part in parades, local concerts and more! Their members are from all walks of life and wish to unit all through music, entertainment and the arts.
The Band and Guard rehearse Tuesday nights from 7-9pm at Parliament House Footlight Theater, sometimes they rehearse outside in the courtyard or the parking lot if marching/practicing for a parade.
This is definitely a great organization to check out if you are moving to Orlando and are musically inclined, or if you just enjoy good entertainment!
