Gay Orlando: City of Orlando Named 2nd Gayest City in the Country by The Advocate!

For those who already live and work in Orlando is will likely come as no surprise to how welcoming Orlando is to the Gay community.

But this year, The Advocate’s annual list of the 15 gayest cities in America which is closely watched surprised many. Orlando, Florida moved up two spots from 4th place to 2nd place in the whole country. Only Salt Lake City, Utah came ahead in first place!

What helped move Orlando up? Well, Orlando is an active place to live and its four area teams that competed in the Gay Softball World Series were a big factor! However, this was just one of the activities that The Advocate used to rank the cities on their list. Orlando also scored excellently in LGBT elected city officials as well as LGBT bookstores and concerts. Not to mention WNBA teams, transgender protections and cities that sent a finalist to the International Mr. Leather competition! Of course, the recent passage of a domestic partner registry, the Fringe Festival and Gay Days all helped Orlando in it’s ranking.

See, Orlando has it all for a LGBT individual or couple who are looking to relocate to a fun and welcoming city.

Some in the area may be surprised to hear that Fort Lauderdale, which is much loved by the Orlando Gay Community for its fun Gay District in Wilton Manors, did make the list for 2012, but was 4th and the only other Florida city to make the cut. Orlando’s Gay Community is clearly on the up and is growing!

With Orlando being such a great place to live and having a very welcoming LGBT community and many friendly neighborhoods, the metro Orlando area is the perfect relocation destination.
