As we have said before, Gay Orlando and Disney go together very well! There is one event that is held at Disney each year which is so popular with the Gay community in Orlando that it has continually grown year on year!

Encore! was founded back in 2002 by a few Disney Cast Members who have a passion for music and the arts who want to benefit their local community. Encore! allows members to benefit from an outlet for their own creativity and expression in performing arts. The members assembled a small choir, dance troupe and pit orchestra in the early days and performed a cabaret style show.

Since the early days the show has grown and its repertoire now include many popular musical numbers, Disney classics, some patriotic tunes and so much more! Gone is the small choir, now there are over 500 volunteer singers, instrumentalists, dancers, actors, color guard and support staff. Encore! has become a true annual event in its own right.

This year the group adopted the name Encore! Cast Performing Arts to reflect this artistic diversity and commitment to creativity. While every member is a volunteer the proceeds from the concert spectators go to a Central Florida charity selected by the group. Since the early days Encore! has raised over $175,000 for local organizations.

For 2012 the title of the show is “FINDING WONDERLAND” and will be an exciting event because it is Encore’s 10th birthday! The show will celebrate the best moments from the last decade, the dates are July 15th, 16th, 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd of July at 7:30pm at the Premier Theater, Disney’s Hollywood Theater with this years charity being “A Better Life Pet Rescue”.
