That’s right, Epcots Flower and Garden festival for 2012 is underway here at Walt Disney World!
Regular readers may remember that I wrote about Epcot’s Food and Wine festival last year which is also popular with the gay community, the flower and garden festival follows the same pattern of celebration, except rather than food and alcohol they are celebrating the beauty of colorful plants!
As so many of us like to “make pretty” it is no wonder that the Flower and Garden festival can be a mecca for gay visitors from Orlando and beyond!
Experience Epcot in bloom this spring thanks to the sponsor HGTV. This annual event is popular with so many people and for 2012 is running from March 7th through to May 20th. As for what is going on, in addition to the beautiful flowers and bushes there are themed weekends, rock concerts as well as the chance to learn more about flowers and planting with special tours with limited availability by featured horticulturalists.
Around the park you will find more than 100 topiaries including 75 Disney character topiaries in the likeness of Woody and Buzz from Toy Story, Lightning McQueen from Disney Pixar’s film Cars & Cars 2 as well as the ever popular Lady & The Tramp which usually takes its place amongst the Italian pavilion in World Showcase.
Flower and Garden offers a great chance to get out and enjoy the beautiful orlando weather at the best time of year, where it is not too hot and the plants are in full bloom!
As for the rock concerts, they are at the American Gardens Theater on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 5:15 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. and feature music from the 1960’s and 1970’s.
So it is time for Gay Orlando to get out to Epcot and enjoy the weather and enjoy the beautiful flower and garden festival!
