Gay Orlando: Getting Prepared for the 2012 Headdress Ball!

It’s not quite that time of year yet… but there have been many people in the community getting ready for the LGBT popular Headdress ball in September.

That’s right – 2012’s date has been announced. The Headdress Ball will be from Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 6:00pm until 2am Sunday, September 23rd! What started back in 1989 as a small floral headdress competition has exploded into a massive Orlando fundraiser! It is one of the most exciting galas in Orlando and the LGBT community love it! In fact, it even dubs itself as “Orlando´s Most Outrageous Charity Gala”!

Those who attend this magnificent event in its 23rd year are wowed by a Las Vegas style show, fantastic dinner as well as live and silent auctions. As well as of course, the Headdress competition! Competitors create headpieces and costumes up to 13 ft tall out of the most unusual materials with plenty of creative flair!

Why is this event so popular with Gay Orlando you ask? Well it is the largest fundraising event by Hope and Help. The charity founded in 1988 that treats and works on preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS in Central Florida.
